- Local newspapers for keeping your finger on the "pulse" of the town: Austin Business Journal, Austin Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman. The NY Times may have better reporting, but the local papers keep you abreast of socio-economic trends, local people who are on the up and up, corporations settling in town and generally, what people in Austin are concerned with and thinking about.
